Stay Focused
“So the child grew and became strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his manifestation to Israel.”
Luke 1:80 NKJV

WOW!! Sometimes we are sure of our purpose. We know our talents. We are aware that God is preparing us for something else, but we are unsure what that next step will be or how we will arrive. We keep praying and working; seeking confirmation.
As I read this scripture, I saw three distinct things.
**********
Glory Hallelujah. Father, we thank you that you are a sovereign Lord. Thank you for having order in all things - even when we feel like we are spinning out of control, you are in control. Thank you for reminding us to trust, for reminding us to stay focused on you, even though we may feel barren or lost. You have control of all things. And when it is our season, Father, our purpose will manifest, just as you have promised. In Jesus’ name we pray, praise and shout - Yes, Lord and Amen.
One more thing. As I was typing the prayer, I heard, maybe your purpose is to be in the wilderness, so that others may see God’s glory. Wow. Yes, Lord, and Amen.

WOW!! Sometimes we are sure of our purpose. We know our talents. We are aware that God is preparing us for something else, but we are unsure what that next step will be or how we will arrive. We keep praying and working; seeking confirmation.
As I read this scripture, I saw three distinct things.
- First, the scripture says John grew up and became strong in spirit. John did not stop praying and moving forward because his time had not come. He continued to learn and connect himself with God.
- Next, the scripture says John lived in the desert. There are many times in our lives that we feel like we are in the desert - barren promises, dry places in our lives, and aloneness that seems overwhelming. But the scripture gives no indication that John gave up or gave in to struggle or hard times. John lived and followed God’s direction even in the desert.
- We must also remember, that prophecy foretold that John would live in the wilderness. John’s wilderness experience became a part of who he was and a part of his testimony. Don’t let a wilderness experience derail you, allow it to be a part of who you are to become. Learn from every experience and see God’s glory in all things.
- Then, the scripture moves directly into the next phase of John’s life - his manifestation of purpose. We get so caught up in circumstances that distract us until we become sidetracked from our purpose. If we keep growing in God and stay focused despite the ups and downs of life, our purpose and our promises will manifest to the Glory of God.
