Morning Scripture
““I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, ‘He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’ Now I tell you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe that I am He. Most assuredly, I say to you, he who receives whomever I send receives Me; and he who receives Me receives Him who sent Me.”” John 13:18-20 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.13.18-20.NKJV ““I am not saying these things to all of you; I know the ones I have chosen. But this fulfills the Scripture that says, ‘The one who eats my food has turned against me.’ I tell you this beforehand, so that when it happens you will believe that I Am the Messiah. I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.”” John 13:18-20 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/jhn.13.18-20.NLT |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father, thank you for this OUCH moment. Thank you for this reminder to be kind in the midst of chaos; for this reminder to be truthful even when there may be challenges. And thank you, Lord, for the reminder to not dwell in the trouble, but to seek you always. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Ouch and Amen It’s an OUCH moment because this morning I was just discussing with a friend about someone who stirred foolishness. Jesus teaches at this moment that the singular troublemaker should not consume the joy concerning everyone else. Thank you, Lord, for perspective. |

Morning Scripture
“When Jesus had said these things, He was troubled in spirit, and testified and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, one of you will betray Me.” Then the disciples looked at one another, perplexed about whom He spoke.” John 13:21-22 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.13.21-22.NKJV “Now Jesus was deeply troubled, and he exclaimed, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me!” The disciples looked at each other, wondering whom he could mean.” John 13:21-22 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/jhn.13.21-22.NLT |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father, teach us to speak truth in all situations. Father, sometimes, because the concerns are so tragic, we decide not to say anything. Continue, Father, to give us strength to speak, even when we are burdened by the truth. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. Maybe it’s just me, but sometimes when life is hard, or the optics won’t be good, I choose not to speak all the words. Jesus spoke all the words, and the disciples said, “ Say what now?” Sometimes we need a “Say what now?” moment. Strengthen us, Father, to seek and speak truth. Amen. |

Morning Scripture
“Now there was leaning on Jesus’ bosom one of His disciples, whom Jesus loved. Simon Peter therefore motioned to him to ask who it was of whom He spoke. Then, leaning back on Jesus’ breast, he said to Him, “Lord, who is it?” Jesus answered, “It is he to whom I shall give a piece of bread when I have dipped it.” And having dipped the bread, He gave it to Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon.” John 13:23-26 NKJV https://bible.com/bible/114/jhn.13.23-26.NKJV “The disciples looked at each other, wondering whom he could mean. The disciple Jesus loved was sitting next to Jesus at the table. Simon Peter motioned to him to ask, “Who’s he talking about?” So that disciple leaned over to Jesus and asked, “Lord, who is it?” Jesus responded, “It is the one to whom I give the bread I dip in the bowl.” And when he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot.” John 13:22-26 NLT https://bible.com/bible/116/jhn.13.22-26.NLT |
Morning Prayer
Heavenly Father, thank you for all things. Father God, help us to remain calm in the midst of present adversity. Father, we so often want to respond immediately when our enemy is present. Father, remind us to breathe, pray, and think. Father, guide our thoughts, so that we continue to represent who you have called us to be in each moment. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen. |
